Spring HVAC Troubleshooting Tips

Spring HVAC Troubleshooting Tips

Before the Cooling Season is in full swing, you should inspect your system!

Spring brings HVAC problems which may require a heating & air conditioning expert to solve. While this time of year often brings blue skies, an abundant of plant life and warmer temperatures, the sudden change in weather can cause issues with your heating and air conditioning systems. Let’s take a closer look at potential issues and the solutions you may need to solve them.

Overdue Filter Changes

Dirty filters can cause your air conditioning system to not run as efficiently and it can cause the system to overheat triggering it to shut off. Changing your air filters often, helps reduce the dirt and dust in your ductwork, system and house, while allowing your system to run efficiently and effectively. In the spring, check your air filters and change them often. Especially throughout the hottest and coldest season when our system is running more frequently. In addition, adding a whole house air purification system (i.e. Reme Halo) will reduce the frequency of filter changes, and help keep ducts/coils clean.

Dirty Evaporated Coils

The evaporator coils should be cleaned every spring and fall to remove dirt and to check for mold and mildew growth. This helps prevent system failure, improving the airflow and ensures your system is running as efficiently as possible. Use a soft brush to remove the dirt, and remove any debris around the unit. If the brush is not removing the dirt, it may be time to call a professional HVAC Technician to perform a thorough cleaning of the coils with a special cleaning agent.

Noisy Ducts

Your ductwork system is a network of tubes that goes throughout your entire house. Hearing unusual noises, such as squealing, rattling or clamoring noises, coming from your ductwork, is not normal and is an indicator that you should have a thorough inspection completed by a HVAC Technician.

These sounds could mean you have an issue with your unit or that there are lose connections/seals or that there is a leak somewhere in your ductwork. Taking care of your ductwork is as important as your Unit, since ductwork also impacts your comfort and efficiency of your system.

When you notice dirty filters/coils or hear rattling sounds coming from your ductwork, it may be time to have a professional inspect your entire system. The pros at Dependable Service Plumbing & Air can fix it for you. Contact us so we can keep your HVAC system running as efficiently as possible.

customer review

“We had an outstanding experience with Dependable Service Plumbing & Air in our remodeling of our master bathroom. In addition to their exceptional work, they were very concientious in their clean-up to include the cleaning of our hardwood floors while on their hands and knees. They arrived when we were told to expect them. They made it a point to ask us if their work was completed the way we wanted. We greatly appreciated their professionalism.” –- Theresa G.
